The fashion look books are produced every year for the BA Fashion and BA Knitwear. The books showcase the final garments and are taken down to Graduate Fashion Week as well as being circulated to all major fashion buyers. I was not involved with last years look books but I heard it was fantastic, and even helped to win the Best Stand Award at Graduate Fashion Week.
This years look book has involved collaboration between the Graphic Design and the Fashion Courses. The idea this year is the possibility of blowing the images up extra large and hanging them at the graduate fashion week. So far we are half way through shooting, I have got two more shoots to do. The designs have been incredible so far, so stunning
We weren't originally going to shoot on set, we went location scouting for areas which have plain backgrounds and dark floors. We met with the graphic students to talk about how we could achieve the look we wanted, and it was decided that we should build a set.
Below are some shots of the shoots so far.
At the beginning of the shoot we realised the floor was coming apart, so we had to take all the wood out and re hammer it all into place after glueing along the edges of the wood. The glue we were using was specifically for wood therefore we had to make sure we didn't put too much on so the floor was still able to be taken apart after.
This dress completely stood out to us all. The dress i'm showing below was woven with reflective material and with the flash light from just the Iphone it showed up like this. We were trying to figure out a way to light it with the flash lights, it wasn't working because the lights had all yellow bulbs. Therefore we thought about the possibility of using the consistent LED lights.
